asked 12/11/16Analogy question
This isn't really a homework question, just an analogy me and my friend were debating. So here it is: a flat tire is to a nail as a ripped book is to a ________. And the options are a baby and scissors. I think it might be scissors as this (like the nail) is the direct inanimate object that caused the ripped book. My friend says that a baby would make better sense because she thinks that tears didn't look like it was caused by scissors, rather by a baby's hands. What would you say the correct answer is?

I understand your reasoning for maintaining inanimate objects in the sentence, but I would have to agree with your friend because a baby's hand would make a tear and scissors make a cut.
