Do you mean 1/(y+3)-1/y = 1/9 ? [I'M THINKING THIS IS RIGHT...YOU FAILED TO PARENTHESIZE A TWO-TERM DENOMINATOR]
Multiply by the LCD 9(y+3)(y) in order to CLEAR FRACTIONS.
You then get 9y - (9y+3) = (y+3)(y) and this should put you into familiar territory.
Distribute, collect like terms, etc...and you will have a quadratic equation, which you can solve.
