4x - 13 > 3                           [subtract 8x from both sides]
4x > 16                              [add 13 to both sides]
x > 4                               [divide both sides by 4]

 

Try a test value [say, x=10]:

  Is  4(3(10)-5) + 7 > 8(10) + 3   ?

      4(25) + 7 > 83   ?

       107 > 83   ?yes
