Helena drops a ball from 25 feet above a lake. The formula t=1/4 square root 25-h describes the time in seconds that the ball is h feet above the watter. How many feet above the water will the ball be after 1 second?

t = (1/4)√(25-h)

 

When t=1

 

1 = (1/4)√(25-h)

 

4 = √(25-h)

16 = 25-h

h = 9

 

At 1 sec the ball will be 9 feet above the water.
