Dividing Mixed numbers

Ted has 18 feet of lumber.  How many 2 1/2 foot shelves can he make?

Here's a good way to do this.

 

Multiply BOTH numbers by two, changing the problem to 36 / 5; the answer will be 7 & one fifth.
