PERCENTAGE PROBLEM

A store sells mints for 50¢ each or $4.80 for a case of twelve mins. The cost per mint is what percent greater when the mints are purchased separately than when purchased in a case?

BIRD, if a case of 12 costs $4.80, then each must cost $.40, right?

 

That's a ten cent difference, and you should know that 10/40 = 1/4 = 25% more.

 

Just FYI, if it asked how much LESS it is to buy by the case, 10/50 = 1/5 = 20%.
