So, Nicole, it should be obvious that Derrick's shading nothing represents 0.
Ari shades half of one hundredth, or .5/100. We don't normally put a decimal in a fraction, but if we multiply by 10/10, we get 5/1000, or .0005.
Two models gives us .002. When we take 1/10 of something, it's the same as dividing by 10, where we move the decimal one place left. 1/10 of .001 is .01. Add the two and 1/10 and we get .012.
