Permutations and Combination

When a fair dice is tossed, it can result in a score of 1,2,3,4,5, or 6. How many different results can be obtained from three dice which are tossed simultaneously.

Please explain the possible error in my thinking.
Since the word "different" is mentioned, would this be a combination?
Therefore 6C3 = 20. (1, 2, 3 is the same as 3, 2, 1).

Where I am coming from, for example, is that (1, 2, 3) and ( 1, 1, 4) yield the same result in that they both sum to 6

I agree with Norbert's answer of 16, although I wonder if there is a formulaic way of solving that as opposed to having to logic it out.  Do you know of how to do that?
