Exponential functions and asyomtote

Hi, if im given an expoential function and want to find the asyomtote( I know Im spelling it wrong ) how do I find it ?

I know for the normal functions like y=2x it would be y=0. Lets say though I have y= (1/3)x —2 ?

I also know if it was y=5x —2 the asomtote would be y=-2.
