Algebra ratio

Question

There are 3/5 as many apples as oranges.

Apples = 3/5 x

Oranges = x 

Apples : Oranges 

 3/5 x   :    x

   3x     :    5x

 

Can I use this ratio to solve math problem?  Pls help me.  Thanks a lot.

You've started well.  However, without more information, it's not clear how you would solve this.

 

e.g., we'd need to know how many total apples and oranges there are and then we could use the ratio to find out the number of apples and oranges.

 

Did you forget to indicate other information given in the problem?
