Primary sources are the most direct source of knowledge. An interview, for example, of somebody who witnessed an account that happened that you're looking for information about would be a primary source. Similarly, something written down, like say, a biologist who is writing a paper about amoebae could be considered a primary source.
Contrast this with secondary sources, which is where somebody cites someone else, such as, "My friend told me that..." or a section of a book that refers to somebody else's work: "Abraham Maslow wrote in his paper entitled A Theory of Human Motivation a hierarchy of human needs." In the first case, you're speaking to a friend-of-a-friend, and in the second, we have a reference to somebody else's work, but neither is the actual source of information.
For note, that's one of the reasons why a lot of teachers dislike Wikipedia for paper writing: it is by its nature secondary sourcing, which means facts can get muddled, changed, or outright lost.

In other words, never rely too much on the internet. Most of the information you read there is opinion. Sometimes there are no supporting evidence to go with that information you read.
Also, beware of blogs.
