In two similar triangles side a of the first triangle corresponds to side c of the second triangle, and side b of the first triangle corresponds to side d of the second triangle. If a = 10, c = 30, and d = 8 find b.

Since a corresponds to c,  10 corresponds to 30,

 

That means each side of the 2nd triangle is 3 times its corresponding side in the first triangle.

 

Since b of the first corresponds to d of the second, that means b corresponds to 8,

 

So side b is 1/3 of 8, or 8/3 = 2 and 2/3  ,,, or 2.67
