It is secretion of salivary glands into oral cavity, secretion is induced by aroma and food inside the oral cavity.
Saliva moistens the oral cavity; it also consists enzymes that start digesting the food particles during the process of chewing. In general, it helps in transferring food to "bolus" that travels smoothly to stomach through digestive canal.
