Can someone explain this quote to me?

"Equal pay isn't just a women's issue; when women get equal pay, their family incomes rise and the whole family benefits."

This is an interesting quote. Women's incomes are just as important to the survival of their families as men's are. If a woman is a single mother than her income is even more important to the survival of her family. If she is paid less than a man doing the same the job she is not the only person who suffers. Her children suffer, her spouse suffers, the whole family is effected.
