Hi, hello. Wuddupp. So I hate math & I have a question on my math test that I have no idea how to do. Can you help me? Of course you can. Well the question is.. " It's currently 54 Degree's. The temp. will rise 2 degree's each hour. How many hours will it take to get to 78 degrees?

You will love math when it becomes a fact of your life.  For example, I love to sew.  When I am in the fabric store, deciding how many yards of fabric to buy, I am solving for x whether or not I know it.  I am certain you have or will have a hobby.  The same thing will probably happen to you.

 

54+2x=78

x=quantity of hours.

Let's subtract 54 from both sides as we proceed to isolate x...

-54+54+2x=78-54

2x=24

Let's divide both sides by 2...

(2x)/2=24/2

x=12

 

Let's check our work...

It is 54-degrees.  For the next 12 hours, the temperature will rise 2-degrees each hour for a total of 24 degrees;  54-degrees+24-degrees=78-degrees.

78^o - 54^o = 24^o

24^o ÷ 2^o = 12 hours.  

Answer 3

If it is 54 now and 78 after some time, by how much the temperature increased? Answer: 78-54=24 degrees.

It took an hour for the temperature to increase from 54 to 56 degrees, then one more hour to get from 56 to 58 degrees, and so on. So in order to get 24 degree increase, it took 24/2=12 hours.
