48 kg of apples cost $96. How many kilograms of apples can you get with $6 ?

i seem to be getting 32 if anyone could tell me how to get the right answer that would be greatly appreciated

Use simple math.

Divide the dollar amount ($96) by the total weight it will buy (48kg) to find the $ price per kg ($2/kg). Then divide the dollar amount available ($6) by the $ price per kg. ($2/kg) to find = 3kg for $6

Set up a proportion.....and let "x" represent the amount of kg we're trying to find.

 

 

48 kg   =    x

-------        ----

$96             $6      Cross multiply and solve....

 

 

(48)(6)  =  (96)(x)

 

288   =   96x

288/96  =  96x/96

3 = x
