for two consecutive even intergers, three times the smaller plus eight times the larger is 104 must find two even intergers

if you plug in 8 and 10 for x then it does not = 104. or does it not have to?

the larger is 104 
3(x) + 8(x+2) = 104
If x = 8 then
3(8) + 8(10) = 24 + 80 = 104
 
How does it not equal 104?
