A rectangle has a base of 9 cm and a height of 16 cm. A second rectangle’s base and height are 3 times as large.. What is the area for the 2nd rectangle?

I dont understand how to set this problem out..

Old base = 9cm

new base = (3)(9cm) = 27 cm

old height = 16 cm

new height = (3)(16cm) = 48 cm

 

area of new figure = bh = (27cm)(48cm) = 1296 cm^2
