5.2t-3.2t=2t

2t/3.2t=2/3.2=20/32=5/8=0.625=62.5% increase

If you were 2 feet tall at age 4 and at age 7 you were 4 feet tall.  How much did you grow?

Answer: You DOUBLED in size or you could say your grew 2x what you were before.

This equates to a 100% increase in size.

How did we get this?  4/2 = 2 times in size

This equates to 200%.  This is an increase of 100%

 

So if we look at 3.2t to 5.2t, we really don't need to worry about t so much as it is the same in both cases.

So to find out how much growth this is, we need to divide the bigger from the smaller.

So...

5.2/3.2 = 1.625.

As a percent, this is 162.5% of if original size.

This is an increase of 62.5%.

You would set up the proportion:  5.2/3.2 = x/100

Now you would cross multiply and divide. 5.2 x 100 =3.2x

520=3.2x

520/3.2=3.2x/3.2

The increase is the amount above 100.0

Example if the answer is 123.5 the increase is 23.5% 

So when you divide 520 by 3.2 the increase is the amount above 100.0
