Recall that slope is calculated as

y₂-y₁

------

x₂-x₁

 

So if slope = 0 then the y does not change and we have a horizontal line.

 

So a line with a slope of 0 that includes the point (0,0) is the x-axis.  It's the only line that will go through the origin with a slope of 0, a horizontal line.
