Decide wether the word problem represents a linear or exponential function. Circle either linear or exponential. Please respond fast because I need to know the answer to this problem.

This is exponential.

 

Try looking at couple of points (x,y) with x=month, y=balance

 

(0,10), (1,30), (2,90), (3,270)

 

The slope between start and month 1 = 20/1 = 20

slope between month 1 and month 2 = 60/1 = 60

slope between month 2 and month 3 = 180/1 = 180

 

As can be seen, the slope gets steeper the farther out

you go.  This curve is not linear.
