If you're given an equation of a line to represent something in the first quadrant, you're probably looking for that y intercept. To find the y-intercept, let x be zero in the equation of the line you're looking at.
Like if you have something like
y = 3x + 2
to find the y intercept, let x be zero then we get that when x is zero
y = 3(0) + 2 = 0 + 2 = 2
