comparing and contrasting Meiosis/Mitosis

Here are some possibilities for each of the two categories: 

 

Comparing: 

• Involve cell division 
• DNA divides through the same set of phases 
• DNA is replicated in the Interphase phase
• Both begin with one cell 

 

Contrasting 

• Meiosis is for reproduction while Mitosis is for growth and repair 
• Mitosis produces cells with full sets of chromosomes and there are two of them.  While Meiosis produces cells with a half of a set of chromosomes and there are four of them 
• Meiosis goes through 2 stages of divisions, while mitosis only goes through 1 stage of divisions.
