Calculate slope...
m=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
=(10-6)/(2-0)...use points (2,10), (0,6)
=4/2................simplify
m=2
Substitute the slope "m" and one of the point coordinates
into the "point-slope" equation...
(y-y1)=m(x-x1)....general form, "point-slope" equation
(y-10)=2(x-2)......substitute "m=2", point coordinates (2,10)
y-10=2x-4........distribute
y=2x+6.......add 10, both sides
So your equation is y=2x+6 (in "slope-intercept" form).
To check, plug your tabular point values into this equation
to check for truth. The graph of this equation is a straight
line with increasing slope from left to right. Your tabulated
point values should all lie on this line.
