         Hi Jennifer ..lets give this a try.....

 

                   We have 15 +45      Now, what is the LARGEST number that

 

                            will divide into 15  and   45 evenly (say to yourself)

 

                         write it this way:     (15+45)  with parenthesis..so

 

                            called factoring ...well the number is 15 that can be

 

                                factored.      15(1+3)  so think 15 times 1 =15

 

                                       and 15 times 3 =45.  Just multiply the 15 times

                                          1  + the 15 times 3   you get: 15 +45
