Middle Colonies: (NY, NJ, Delaware, Pennsylvania) would be settled for economic reasons with the exception of Pennsylvania as it was home to the religious group, the Quakers.

Southern Colonies (North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Georgia)

NC, SC, VA settled for economic reasons

GA settled as a place for debtors in England and criminals to have a fresh start in the New World while paying their debts back

Maryland: settled by Catholics to escape religious prosecution from the Protestants in the colonies.
