One of my 'tricks' to word problems is to substitute easy numbers and then think about the problem. What if the problem was that sales were $100,000 and the cost of the food was $25,000? Would it be easy for you to see that the percent of the sales that was food cost was 25%? You would then see the way to calculate this was that you divide the cost by the sales. So in this case you would take 27,300 and divide by 84,000 for 32.5%
All the best
