Neighborhoods such as these provide a familiar setting for those new to the country. The neighborhoods can provide support in language, particularly if newcomers prefer to speak their native language or are still learning English. They also provide networking for jobs, housing, religious organizations, and create a community that is essential for ease of assimilation. If families are settling in these neighborhoods, the "ethnic" setting fosters an environment their children will be more comfortable in.
