A building in a city has a rectagular base. The length of The base measures 65 ft less than twice the width. The perimeter of the base is 830ft.

Let width be x so length = 2x -65

 

perimeter = 2x + 2(2x-65) = 830

solve for x

 

2x + 4x - 130 = 830

6x = 960

x = 960/6 = 160

 

so width = 160 and length = 2x160 -65 = 255
