Hi Kanisha,
Cooking is a characteristic of diet and life in today's society; however, the invention of the idea of cooking foods dramatically changed human development. Once humans discovered that they were able to put foods, such as meats, into the fire, they realized that not as many people became ill after eating. Cooking gave humans the ability to eat things that they would otherwise get sick from (i.e. meat that is close to being spoiled or grains that can be dried and stored). Cooking gave the human race the ability to be able to store foods through the winters, allowing them to work on social constructs instead of hunting and gathering. If it wasn't for the invention of cooking, humanity would never have been able to develop into what it is today.
I hope that this helps you. If you need anything else, please let me know and I will do my best to help.
~Ms. Katie
