For a= 3, (2 - 7 (3) - 30) = 2 - 21 - 30 = -49 Have your calculator do 9 ^ -49 power
Remember because the power is negative the answer will be 1/b (a small decimal answer) where b is 9^49 power. Then you should get a decimal point answer. Remember, powers are done FIRST, so evaluate the power number, then let the calculator do the rest.

I think Shola meant 9^2 - 7a - 30. She has just re-posted the question.
That would make it 81 - 7*3 - 30 = 81 - 21 - 30 = 30.
Don't know if my guess is any better than yours, but this looks like a more reasonable problem.
