Well, first of all, 11/12 is a fraction, not a decimal.  The easiest step would be to write 11/12 as a decimal first, then find the percent from the decimal form.

 

1. To write 11/12 as a decimal, use long division or type 11 ÷ 12 into your calculator (the numerator of the fraction always gets entered first).

 

2. To convert a decimal to a percent, multiply the decimal by 100.  The answer that you get will be the same as if you took your decimal number and moved the decimal point two places to the RIGHT.

 

Here is an example with 4/5.

 

4/5 = 0.8

 

0.8 * 100 = 80    (Also the same as moving the decimal two places to the right: 0.8 --> 8.0 --> 80.)

 

So 4/5 is the same as 80%.
