f(x)= -2x + 4 and g (x) =x³ - x

 

f(12) just means to input the value 12 in place of x in the equation:

f(12) = -2(12)+4 = -20

 

f(2b) is done the same.  Replace x with 2b in the equation.

f(2b) = -2(2b)+4 = -4b+4

 

For g(-2) do the same.  Replace x with -2 in the equation x³-x...

g(-2) = (-2)³-(-2) = ...

 

g(7c) = (7c)³-7c = ...
