Every 12x12 tile is a square foot (assuming "12x12" is in units of inches of course).
So, we need 3600 tiles (assuming the problem is to cover 3600 sq ft of space)
How many boxes at 12 tiles per box?... 3600/12 = 300 boxes
How many pallets does this consist of? 300 boxes divided by 72 (boxesperPallet) = 4.167 pallets
So that's 4 full pallets.
Remember, keep good track of units (don't make any assumptions you can't take back to the store ;-)
Extra Info: Notice how the units come through the division in step 3: 3600 sqft / 12 sqft per box....
sqft
sqft/box
a "double-divide" appearing in a fraction as above brings box to the numerator.... =300 boxes
