False, the definition of parallel lines are lines with equal slopes. Picture a line with a slope of 1/2 and compare it to a line with a slope of -1/2, the lines would cross.

False. Two lines parallel to each other on the xy-plane must have the same slope. The only difference can be their vertical offset or y-intercept.

The answer is False. For lines to be parallel, they have to have the same slope. If you create a graph and chart two equations with the slope being the same, they would be going in the same direction and would never touch.

PARALLEL lines have the same slope.
But, interestingly, PERPENDICULAR lines (lines meeting at right, or 90 degree, angles) have slopes which are the negative reciprocals of each other. So if a line has a slope of 5/2, then any line perpendicular to it would have a slope of -2/5.
