Solve : 2(5w-3) + 4 (1+3w)

I answered:

10w - 7 + 4 + 12w 

= 22w - 3

 

the answers say: 

22w - 2

Your answer is close but the -7 in your middle step should be -6.  Remember to check your work and you'll usually find your mistake.

 

2(5w-3) + 4 (1+3w)

 

= 2*5w - 2*3 + 4*1 + 4*3w

 

= 10w - 6 + 4 + 12w   (You got -7 vice -6 for the second term)

 

= 22w - 2
