I have been a MATH tutor for over 45 years - Algebra I & II, Geom.
In my younger days, on Saturday mornings about 6 am, I bought 5 dozen doughnuts and split them into ten 1/2 dozen bags of doughnuts and would ride my bicycle through the neighborhood and look for lights on in the homes. I would knock lightly at the front door and offer to sell my fresh, warm donuts for $1.50 per bag of 1/2 dozen. They only cost about $1.00 a dozen, so I would make $15 in sales less the $5 purchase = I made $10.00. That was when gas cost 19c a gallon and a loaf of bread would be 30c. If you did that now, you would have to make more per 1/2 dozen doughnuts because your cost is so much now. But the principal of the deal was that you make all the profit yourself. If I sold out, I would go buy another 5 dozen and do it all over again. And, the reason I limited myself to buying 5 dozen was because I could not get more in the baskets on my bicycle. I had a basket over the front wheel, and two side baskets on either side of the back wheel. Another idea is to buy a good broom and some Windex and offer to clean out people's garage for $5.00 or do windows for $8.00 per window. You'd be surprised what money you can make if you get on with it and do a good job, so they will call you for other jobs. I started mowing lawns from the name list I had acquired selling doughnuts. I bought a used $40 mower and made a killing starting early and working late on Saturdays. That made it where I could do my studies and schoolwork on Mon - Fri nights, and I would get a good night's rest on Friday night, so I would be ready to work Saturday all day. Goof luck!! Larry
