i don't understand this math problem?could someone help please

Factor the following trinomial.3r2 +8r-3  

could someone help me finish this math problem? (i'm stuck)

3r2+8r-3   so i tried multiplying 3 and -3 to get -9 and i tried finding a number that equals to r (1) but i cant because all i get is 3x3 or 9x1    what do i do? i'm so confused
