Slope means how much you rise (move vertically) on a graph divided by how much you run (move horizontally) on a graph.

The slope of a line is the change in y over the change in x ...rise/run. So if you're given two points say (2,4) and (5.6) on a straight line, then the slope is y2-y1/x2-x1 = (6-4)/(5-2)=2/3.

slope = "rise over run" = change in y value divided by change in x value
if, for example, you have two points (2,4) and (4,8) the slope = (8-4)/(4-2) = 4/2 = 2
the line through the two points is y=2x where the coefficient of the x term = the slope = 2

In Algebra 1 slope is a ratio (fraction) that compares the change in the y-direction (up or down) to the change in the x-direction (left or right).
For example, a line goes from point (-1, 6) to the point (4, 8). The change in y is 5 and the change in x is 2. The slope is 5/2.

Looks like the change in y is 2, (8-6), and the change in x is 5, (4-(-1)), so slope m = 2/5. I was getting ready to post a video answer when I saw your post, so will just give a link to the graph I was going to use in the video: desmos.com/calculator/snauauu0bp06/19/25

slope = rise/run = change in y over change in x = (8-6)/(4- -1) = 2/506/20/25

I believe he is not writing the coordinate (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) thats why his answer is 5/2, because when he is saying y goes from -1 to 6 thats mean he mean y1=-1 and y2= 6 and same for X .06/21/25
