Hi Bobby, What a great question! The conflict is one that we create, if we choose to keep on doing what we think is important, and so miss out on being with the "certain man" who was giving the banquet. That "certain man" is Jesus. The banquet can be interpreted as the celestial banquet in Kingdom of Heaven. I, for one, don't want to miss out or be blinded by things that seem to be more important than that. I want to lay aside those things and not use them as excuses not to accept the invitation. Jesus told this parable while in a Pharisee's home, having been invited to a meal. Jesus told them that if they could not see their way to believe in that "certain man," then God would open the banquet to a much wider number of people. Jesus says to invite people who could not repay them -- the poor, the lame, the blind. If they would do that, they would be blessed. That is Good News. All of us get invited -- not just the religious authorities. I hope my answer helps.
