The SA (sinoatrial) node is located in the right atrium. It is known as the pacemaker of the heart A depolarization of the SA node causes contraction of the atrial myocardium. The electrical wave passes to the AV node (atrioventricular) node between the right atrium and right ventricle. The impulse the passes down the His fibers in the inter-ventricular septum and then on to the Purkinje fibers. Finally the ventricles contract. These electrical movement correspond to muscle contractions and the flow of blood around and out of the heart. the impulse can be seen on the readings of and electrocardiograms. these changes in electrical potential in the heart are monitored on an EKG.
When studying anatomy, I enjoying tracing the flow of blood through the chambers and valves, and the path of the electrical current
