Hi! My name is Emily and I'm currently a nursing student.
Hello Rachel!
Running on your toes is technically possible, especially if that person has trained for adapted themselves to it. Here's how it might work for your character and what I think you should consider:
Advantages:
- Running on toes minimizes the surface area touching the ground, reducing the risk of stepping on sharp objects if she's careful.
- Running on her toes tends to favor quicker, more agile movements because it encourages a spring-like motion using the calf muscles and Achilles tendon.
- With training, her feet could develop tougher soles, strengthened arches, and more responsive muscle groups, enhancing her ability to handle rough terrain.
Challenges:
- Running on her toes would place significant stress on those calf muscles and Achilles tendons. She would have to be extremely strong and conditioned in these areas to avoid injury.
- The repetitive stress of running on toes could lead to issues like Achilles tendinitis or plantar fasciitis.
To make this more realistic, she would have to train extensively focusing on her calf muscles for power and endurance. As well as core strength, to stabilize her posture. To enhance her story, she might have developed a heightened awareness of her environment, using her mobility to compensate for the risk of barefoot movement.
