How should you adjust your approach to answering questions in the Reading Section of the SAT based on the genre of the passage you are being tested on?

Was this question asked by a real student? Also, this information does not seem to apply to the digital versions of the SAT that have been in use for most of this year.

This question came up during lessons with an SAT student. I can see your point about awareness of genre being a little bit less important in the digital version of the SAT, but genre considerations do apply regardless of the length of passage

No, they do not. A whole new set of considerations are in place now, and genre is not one of them. I base this on months of actual experience, and that of my colleagues. Genre is obsolete in the context you mention.
