Complementizer or Determiner

I spoke with a grammarian on another website and he said "that" is a complementizer, also known as a subordinating conjunction. What is your take on this? Thanks, Fulvio

"There are so many sites that you can even find birthday haiku or pop culture haiku."

Well... in English, a complementizer is often a word that is left out because we know that it is there. I'm not sure the "that" in your above sentence would qualify. Without the "that," it would read, "There are so many sites you can even find birthday haiku..." It might work, but your sentence would need to be re-written, anyway! I might re-write it to say, "There are so many haiku sites: there are even birthday haikus and pop-culture haikus!"
