Wyzant cutting off my lessons after half an hour!!

I always schedule my lessons for a particular student for 45 minutes because his mother says an hour is just too long for him. This is not usually an issue, but the last two classes I've had with the student were awful because around the half-hour mark, I kept getting this noisy and very distracting warning tone and then after a couple of minutes, it cut us off and I had to send the student a new link. I did NOT mistakenly schedule the lesson for only half an hour, so there was absolutely NO reason for our lesson to be cut off like that. This is disruptive and it will start impacting my business in a VERY bad way. Why is this happening? Are 45-minute time periods for lessons not allowed?

Hello! I'm sorry to hear about your tech issue. Different videoconferencing methods have different time limits for their free versions. If anything, I recommend you try a videoconferencing company that does not allow you to meet for less than an hour before shutting down the meeting. For example, Zoom has 40 min. free for non-paying users and endless time for users who buy a license, and I believe Skype has a similar function.

If the issue you described is with Wyzant's online tool, feel free to contact Wyzant Support about it. It could be a rare device-related glitch, and they're really helpful!

Hello!

I am sorry you are experiencing these issues with the online platform video meeting.

I don’t use Wyzant platform for my online sessions, unless my student requests it. I use Google meet and I don’t have any problem whatsoever since day 1.

I highly recommend to switch it as a backup.

In the meantime, contact the Wyzant team, they will help you to resolve the issue.
