Hello! For circumference of a circle, the formula is:
C = pi * diameter OR C = pi * d
Since your teacher said to use 3.14 for pi, let’s fill that into our formula.
C = 3.14 * d
Now, we can also fill in the circumference for C, since we were given that information.
125.6 = 3.14 * d
We can to solve for the d, the diameter. To solve an equation we want to use the opposite operation. Think about what is currently happening to d. It is being multiplied by pi. The opposite of multiplication is division. Let’s divide by 3.14 on both sides of the equation.
125.6 = 3.14 * d

3.14 3.14
40 = d
The diameter is 40 km. Make sure you include your unit!
