What is the difference between Active voice and Passive voice?

The above answer is correct, but it's good to highlight why active voice is superior and why we should try to reduce use of passive voice. First, active voice is more concise and uses fewer words--a HUGE plus. Second, active voice identifies the doer of the action, whereas often in passive voice, the doer is vague or non existent.
