One way to generate ideas is to use a picture prompt. You can choose a photograph that includes one of the subjects you're interested in. Then, imagine what happened right before the picture was taken, describe what is going on in the picture, or write about what might occur right after the photo was snapped.
Hi Abby,
What are the assignment instructions? If it’s free writing, I would go with a high stakes softball game that you played in. The narrative of a well-played game can book readers. Make the reader appreciate the significance of that particular game in your life. Show; don’t just tell. For example, if you batted with the game tied, last inning, two outs, how did it FEEL? I hope this helps.

Hi Abby, If it's an assignment, what are the specific goals or instructions? Asking better questions always helps me to focus my attention on WHAT and HOW I'm trying to say something in my writing. If you're just writing for fun, stories always work best, i.e. narratively driven writing. The Story arc can help you structure the writing in a way that will take your reader on a journey. Some of the core elements of a good story arc is the protagonist, inciting incident, tension building towards the climax point, "all is lost" moment, and a resolution. Essentially, illustrating some kind of transformation or experience through the struggle and evolution of the character or yourself, if it is autobiographical, is a good place to start.
