The first paragraph will introduce not only the topic of the paper, but how you plan to prove what you are going to write. It's important in my opinion to get that set up first, but that's just my opinion. Decide how many points you will discuss or "prove" in the paper and the first paragraph should not be so daunting. Also the ending paragraph should mirror the first paragraph with different phrasing albeit the same meaning to conclude: These are the reasons I said what I said to close.
How do write the first paragraph of an essay?
It's sometimes really difficult to begin an essay, but there are easy tools to help you get started! It's sometimes easier to write the body of the essay first and then write the first paragraph afterwards. Just because it appears first does no mean it has to be the first thing you write. Look to your outline or graphic organizer and determine what the other paragraphs will be, then circle back to write the opening paragraph later; this will allow you to introduce the rest of the essay more effectively.
