Direct and Inverse Proportions

1. When a shaft is turning at a constant speed, the horsepower that it can transmit is directly proportional to the cube of its diameter. If a shaft of diameter 6 cm turning at a constant speed transmits 120 horsepower. find the horsepower transmitted by a shaft of diameter 9 cm turning at the same constant speed.

2. The number of days required to renovate a house is inversely proportional to the number of workers available. When 6 workers are doing the job, the renovation takes 8 days. How many workers are required to complete the job in 12 days?
